I am extremely fortunate to have found my calling in life. Simply put, I am honored and privileged to be a psychologist. I love what I do! I have been in private practice since 2011 in Austin, TX. Prior to moving to Austin, I lived in NYC, where I worked as a lecturer and faculty staff member at the Columbia University-Teachers College School Psychology Program. I have extensive clinical experience working with children and adults.
I work with all kinds of people. My clients come from various backgrounds and many of them are high achievers—intelligent and creative folks with a common desire for personal improvement. They often express feeling anxious, stressed, worried, and afraid of failing. Many of them struggle with self-care. Some of them have more anxiety than the average. Some of them haven’t fully developed their coping skills, so they develop unhealthy habits in response to life’s stressors. For some, the fear of failure leads to patterns of procrastination, avoidance, and guilt.
Life, as we know it now, is not the same as it was before. Hence, the name of my practice, Modern Life Psychology. We as humans have always shared the propensity to feel and think, to love and hurt. What sets “now” apart from “then” is that we are increasingly confronted by modern life advances that, while designed to improve our quality of life, have also often limited our ability to live life to the fullest. We ended up choosing the easier routes over the harder paths. We value being smart than being wise
Before I worked with adults, I primarily worked with children and adolescents. I am still a child psychologist at heart. Predominately these days, I consult with parents who have children that struggle with mood and behavioral concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, ADHD). For direct therapy with children, I primarily use CBT and evidence based treatment for mood disorders (e.g, anxiety and depression). For ADHD treatment, I mostly consult
Folks, we are all in this together! Together, we are strong. However, the overwhelming stress, the unpredictability, and the new normal can wreak havoc on everyone’s mental health. I am so glad that you have taken the steps to take care of yourself!
Welcome Parents! Do you have concerns about your child but aren’t quite sure how to take the first step in helping him/her? We can set up a consultation meeting to go over all of your concerns.
I provide online therapy to better accommodate my clients’ busy lifestyles. I am licensed in both Texas and New York, so this service applies to both new and existing clients who are residents.
